Quilt Fabric

When you walk in the quilting store and are greeted by a wall full of quilting fabric, so bright and colorful, you can find overwhelmed by the possibilities. To some people, the choice of the structure of his masterpiece is the padding of the most exciting part of this process. His creativity is flowing, which is surrounded by beautiful patterns and prints, and anything is possible.

But not all tissues of the quilt are the same. Some are actually better than others, and upon entering this store, can not let the bright colors and patterns go wrong. There are many things below the surface.

Firstly, what is the plot? Quilters see more than 100% cotton and natural fibers tend to be easier to work with – and easier to sew, quilt and press. Son is also important. Low profile fight has to wear a lot easier than the best quality of fabric. The best is somewhere between 68 and 78. This will give you a thicker and more durable padded fabric that resist wear and to resist the reduction.

Next, consider the structure of grain. The fabrics are woven in two directions: – The length and width. A quilt fabric quality be straight along two directions, forming a perfect right angle, where they intersect. The print is at the top grain must be properly aligned with the grain as well. If not, agree in May to print instead of cutting the grain, which can only lead to a minor, easily distorted model.

Although the quality of the quilting fabric may require a little proof for sure that you get what you pay. Some manufacturers try to "boost" the declining quality of the equipment by the addition of chemicals. Indeed the plot has a strong smell? It can be a smell of bleach or size add some manufacturers for material appears stronger and thicker than what it really is. Unfortunately, these chemicals removed immediately and all you are left it is an inferior product. You do not have a quality of fabric and should be avoided.

Is the color of the output of the fingers? Doing so is probably not of color, which is not a good sign. Good padded fabric will always be the hallmark of color in the area. After all, all good colors are wonderful and the reasons for the teams, if they are to be boring and disappear after the first wash?
Another way to ensure you get a good padded fabric to place the screw enough to get a good look at the print and colors. Coherence is an important indicator of quality. Does the color fade in the parties? The overlap design in some places? Could ruin a nice blanket.

So why go through the trouble of finding the quilt fabric – especially if you can find it cheaper to print in a shop discounts? Is not this enough?

The short answer is no. When you create something as complex and beautiful as your quilt masterpiece, this is no time to spare. And when it comes to fabric, they really get what you pay for. The resignation in May to bring the same feeling, but is likely to be printed on a canvas underneath. Take time to find good indicators of quality quilting fabric, and then these wonderful prints and patterns appeal to you the first time they entered Store in a lifetime.
